SAN DIEGO – (Tuesday, March 9, 2010) “If every school in America served diverse populations of students as well as these 13 schools, achievement gaps would be eliminated,” affirmed Dr. Joseph F. Johnson, Jr., Executive Director of NCUST after the center chose 13 high-performing urban schools across the country as winners of the National Excellence in Urban Education Award. These schools will receive the 2010 National Excellence in Urban Education Award from San Diego State University’s National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST) at the Fifth Annual NCUST High Performing Urban Schools Symposium May 5-7, 2010 in Long Beach, California.
